Wendy K. (Dexter) Wadsworth

RANDOLPH—Wendy K. (Dexter) Wadsworth. 67, of Randolph, City of Coldspring, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022, at home after a long illness. .

She was born on February 7, 1955 in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Samuel M. and the late Joan Ruth (Schermerhorn) Dexter.

Wendy graduated in 1973 from Randolph Central School and Jamestown Community College with a degree in Applied Science in Nursing. She retired from nursing in Venice, Florida, where she worked for the Hospice of Southwest Florida. In previous years, she had been a waitress at the Randolph American Legion, where she also served with the Ladies Auxiliary. She had also been a nurse in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit in Englewood, Florida.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. Prior to her illness, Wendy will be remembered for her cheerful demeanor and spontaneous smile. She was a natural social butterfly who loved being with people.

She is survived by her two daughters: Brandy Bergman and her husband, Mike of Randolph, and Katie L. Wadsworth of Punta Gorda, Florida; eight grandchildren: Tyler, Samantha, Jacob, Joseph, Alison, Jamison, Olivia and Randall; one sister, Linda (Lee) Crowther of Fort Myers, Florida; a nephew, Chad Dexter and a niece, Liza Samples; and his dear friend and caregiver, Marta Brown of Jamestown. .

She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Dale A. “Waddy” Wadsworth, who died March 29, 2016; his parents, Sam and Joan; and his beloved brother, Randall I. Dexter in January 1998.

A celebration of life will be held at noon, Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the Old Tool Tavern (114 School St., Randolph, NY 14772), followed by dinner. According to his wishes, visits will not be observed. Burial will be in East Randolph Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorials may be sent to either Mission Meals, Randolph Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Washington Street, Randolph, NY 14772, or County Mental Health Association of Chautauqua.
