Prices and activities

Chico State was named overall champion of the 2021 Ballot Bowl: Registration Rumble, a project of the California Secretary of State’s student voting project. With the highest number of students enrolled in all of CSU, Chico State registered 166 students ahead of the 2021 California governor’s recall election – Cal State Long Beach was second in CSU with 99 students enrolled.

Chico State Softball Stars Amanda metzger and Brooke Larsen made the most of their time away from the diamond during the pandemic – both were named 2021 All-America college athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Publications, presentations and exhibitions

CONECTA: Tecnologico de Monterrey the magazine published the professor’s conclusions Keiko Goto (Department of Nutrition and Food Science) conducted its COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) project in “Investigating Obesity! Students from Tec and California are joining forces to meet the challenge. Goto and his NFSC 667 students in (“International Nutrition Problems”) are participating in a COIL project with students from TEC (Technologic de Monterrey), Mexico, for a joint nutrition research project.

Graduate student Justin hebert (Department of Kinesiology) and Associate Professor Aubrey newland (Department of Kinesiology) published research results in “How to Improve Performance Through Quality Coaching” on the website Shaping America. The duo explore how the actions and behaviors of coaches can impact their relationships with their athletes, as well as the performance of athletes.

Matthew Peter (Department of Recreation, Hospitality and Parks Management) recently taught courses in Tourism and Hospitality Management and Wellness and Spa Management at the University of Applied Sciences of Kaunas (Kauno Kolegija) in Kaunas, Lithuania. The city of Kaunas will be the European Capital of Culture 2022.
