Pfizer vaccine produces 10 times more antibodies than Sinovac, study found


RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A study in Hong Kong found that individuals vaccinated with Pfizer-BioNTech’s coronavirus vaccine have 10 times more antibodies than those vaccinated with Sinovac, and that the latter produce “similar levels or lower “proteins targeting the virus naturally produced in patients recovered from Covid-19.

The results from the University of Hong Kong, published Friday in the scientific journal Lancet Microbe, may suggest the need for “alternative strategies” – including booster vaccines – to improve antibody levels in individuals immunized with Sinovac and protection against Covid-19 disease, according to the researchers.
