The UK medical industry saw a 22.2% increase in IT hiring activity in January 2022 compared to the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
Overall industry hiring increased 4.57% in January 2022 compared to December 2022.
Of the total medical industry hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 11.04% share in January 2022, registering a 1.71% increase over the average share of the past three months.

Of the total number of job titles, the top five roles accounted for 99.6% of the UK medical industry’s overall IT recruitment activity in January 2022.

1) Software and web developers, programmers and testers recorded a share of 53.41% in January 2022, registering a stable growth of 66.25% compared to the previous month.
2) Database and network administrators and architects claimed a share of 21.69%, an increase of 68.75% from the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous IT occupations held a share of 14.46%, recording an increase of 111.76% from December 2022.
4) IT support specialists captured a 7.23% share, up 125% from the prior month.
Top five medical companies in UK IT recruitment activity in January 2022
The top five companies, by number of jobs tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 341.94% in share of overall UK medical industry IT recruitment activity in January 2022 compared to December 2022.
Arjo posted 55 IT jobs in January 2022 and was up 189.47% from the previous month, followed by LumiraDx with 38 jobs and steady growth. Intelerad Medical Systems with 16 IT jobs and Medtronic with 14 jobs saw flat growth of 220% and flat growth of 366.67%, respectively, while Sartorius saw a 250% increase with 14 job openings in January 2022.
Junior-level job openings dominate in January 2022
Junior level jobs held a share of 81.12%, up 74.14% from December 2022. Entry level positions with a share of 10.44%, saw an increase of 52, 94% compared to the previous month.
In third place were mid-level vacancies with an 8.43% share, up 40% from December 2022.
