ECCLPS virtual pigeon race kicks off on October 17th – Sterling Journal-Advocate



The pigeons will soon take flight for the second annual Flight For Funds Virtual Pigeon Race of the Logan, Phillips and Sedgwick Early Years Council.

The race is scheduled for Sunday October 17 with a catch-up date of October 23 if weather conditions do not allow it or the next clear day. Carrier pigeons will begin their flight to Grand Island, Neb., At 7 a.m. and will head to Sterling, where they will arrive at around 1 p.m.

They will travel around 280 miles and each bird will have their own flea flea to track their arrival. The exit and finish will be published on the ECCLPS Facebook page and the first and last winners will be announced. The first ticket holder will win $ 300 and the last ticket holder will win $ 150.

Last year’s race raised approximately $ 3,500.

Funds raised from the run will be used to continue ECCLPS ‘work to support early childhood educators, families and children in Logan, Phillips and Sedgwick counties.
