Carolina is the third best public university in the United States, according to a new ranking released this week.
The Wall Street Journal / Times Higher Education College 2022 Ranking published Tuesday also places UNC-Chapel Hill 33rd among all public and private universities in the United States.
Rankings are based on 15 factors in four main categories including resources, commitment, results and environment. Carolina had her highest score in the results category, which examines graduation rate, reputation, graduate salaries, and post-graduation debt.
The ranking was released a week after its ranking was published by US News & World Report, which named Carolina fifth among public universities for the 21st year in a row and best value among public universities for the 17th time.
“These rankings demonstrate Carolina’s commitment to our mission of life-changing research and world-class scholarship,” said Chancellor Kevin M. Guskiewicz. “By recording our highest score for results, these rankings recognize our commitment to making an impact on citizens of the state and beyond. I am grateful to our community for their hard work in maintaining our excellence, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. ”
Earlier this month, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings placed Carolina 52nd of the 1,600 best research universities in the world.
