8 Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya students injured in road accident

As many as eight female students in a bolero were injured after their vehicle suffered a fatal head-on collision with a motorbike near Mahulapali Square on Tarabha-Mendha road in Sonepur district on Tuesday.

At least four female students who suffered serious injuries have been admitted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College in critical condition. The driver of the bolero and the motorcyclist were also injured in the road accident.

According to reports, the Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya in Jamkani under Tarabha block does not have its own vehicle and has hired a bolero from a private landlord to transport students to and from school.

As of Tuesday afternoon, up to 12 students were driving home after class in the ill-fated vehicle when the crash happened. It is suspected that the driver lost his controls on the vehicle and he encountered the accident near the Mahulapali junction.

After receiving the information, Tarabha Police immediately rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation. All injured students were transferred to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir.

Tarabha Police have registered a case in the incident and an investigation is ongoing.
